Global Functions
Up arrow, Down arrow, PGUP, PGDN, HOME, END:
ESC: Exits SF-FAM.
BBS directory:
Enter a different path to the SFFAREA.DAT/
SFNODE.DAT. That node will be loaded
immediately.
Configure SF-FAM:
This goes to the configuration menu.
You will be returned to the global options
screen after exiting the configuration.
File Area Editor:
This will allow you to configure the file
areas using this SFFAREA.DAT.

SFFILES Headers:
This will create a header for all the
SFFILES.BBS (or SFFILES.<X> if global
options are turned on).
Sort files:
This allows you to sort the file area by
FILENAME or ASCENDING( low to high ) DATE or
DESCENDING( high to low ) DATE.
Text Search:
This will search all areas for a text string.
Filename and description will be searched.
If a match is found, you will have the option
of continueing the search, or halting.

Verify sizes:
This option will check every file in every
area. If the file size in SFFILES.BBS does
not match that of the actual file, the size
in SFFILES.BBS will be updated. If the comma
is not located correctly, it will be fixed.

Area Options
Up arrow, Down arrow, PGUP, PGDN, HOME, END:
<ESC>:
Exits file area. If changes have been made,
you will be asked if you want to save them.
<ENTER>:
View description. PgUp, PgDn, Arrow Keys,
move file description. Any other key exits.
Tag file:
A file may be tagged/untagged with the
space bar.

Tag all:
All files are tagged with Alt-T.
Untag all:
All files are untagged with Alt-U.
Xtra options:
Shows additional options. ALL commands work
no matter which option screen is showing.
Add files:
Will check for any files in the download
directory that are not in SFFILES.BBS. If
found, you will be asked if you want to add
them to SFFILES.BBS. SFFILES.BAK,
SFFILES.OLD, and SFFILBBS.OLD are skipped.
If you select 'd', you will be asked if you
want to delete the file.

Copy file:
Will copy the file( or tagged files if
ALT-C ) to any drive/directory you choose.
NOTE: Do not use this to move a file to a
new file area. Use 'M'ove.
Delete file:
Will delete the file( or tagged files if
ALT-D ) from both SFFILES.BBS and the
download directory.
Edit file:
Allows you to Edit the Filename, file date,
file size, and comments on the selected
file. When done with editing, simply press
<ENTER> until the end of the form. or press
CTRL-S.

Use File_id.diz:
Uses the FILE_ID.DIZ or DESC.SDI in a file
( or tagged files if ALT-F ) for the
description. The editing window will then
be brought up to make any desired changes.
Header:
This will make a header for this SFFILES.BBS.
Mark file with current date:
This will mark the file( or tagged files if
ALT-K ) with the current or actual file date.
Move file:
This will move the file( or tagged files if
ALT-M ) to another file area. The file
information will be added to the new
area's SFFILES.BBS.

Rename file:
This will rename the both the highlighted
file and the file on the disk to the selected
name.
Offline:
This will move the file( or tagged files if
ALT-O ) to the selected drive/directory.
OFFLINE will be placed( right justified ) in
the file size field.
Remove file:
This will remove the file( or tagged files
if ALT-R ) from SFFILES.BBS, however it will
not delete the file from disk.

Sort files:
This allows you to sort the file area by
FILENAME or ASCENDING( low to high ) DATE or
DESCENDING( high to low ) DATE.
Text search:
This will search for a text string in file
names and file descriptions. Case does not
matter. Search begins at the highlighted
file.
Verify files:
This will verify and update the file size.
It will also check to make sure that any
file listed in is in the download directory.
If it is not, you will be given the option
of removing that file from SFFILES.BBS, or
marking it offline( by pressing 'o' ).

DOS Porgrams:
This will run a DOS program. The function
keys.
F1-F10 will immediately run the program.
Alt-F1 thru Alt-F10 will run the program
on tagged areas.
Save SFFILES.BBS:
Ctrl-s saves the SFFILES.BBS. Pressing escape
to exit the file area will prompt you to save
changes if any have been made.

The filenames and file descriptions in this
area will be searched.

CTRL-L-ARROW: Go to previous word
CTRL-R-ARROW: Go to next word
HOME: Beginning of row
END: End of row
DOWN/UP ARROW: Next/Previous field
R-ARROW/L-ARROW: Move cursor right/left one
position
INS: Insert space at current cursor position
DEL: Delete character at current cursor position
ESC: Exits editing field.
You may edit the description, filename, file
date, and file size.

General Configuration
Enter the letter to change.
Name: Your name.
Registration Code:
This will be sent to you after
registering SF-FAM.
Directory for SFNODE.DAT/SFFAREA.DAT:
Direct Video Writes:
TRUE allows writes directly to video RAM.
FALSE will use the computer's video BIOS.
While T should work in almost all cases,
if you experience video problems, you may
want to set this to F. This will most
often occur when multi-tasking.

Color Monitor:
COLOR if you have a color monitor.
MONO if not.
FILE_ID.DIZ lines when adding:
Enter the number of lines to read when
reading the FILE_ID.DIZ and DESC.SDI.
0-99 are valid.
Swap to EMS/XMS on external programs:
TRUE will enable EMS/XMS swaps.
FALSE will force a swap to disk
when running an external program.
CD-ROM on global options:
TRUE will allow all options on the global
menu to process CD-ROM areas.
FALSE will disable all options for CD-ROM
areas.

Temporary directory:
This is the directory that SF-FAM uses
when swapping to EMS/XMS is disabled, or
there is insufficient EMS/XMS memory to
swap to.
This is also where the FILE_ID.DIZ will
be put when necessary.
Default Sorttype:
This is used when adding and moving files
only. SF-FAM will add in this sort order.
Files moved will be added to the new area
in this order.
Put overlays into EMS/extended:
If true, overlays will be loaded into EMS
or extended memory. Highly recommended.

External Programs
COMSPEC will be converted the to the comspec
environment variable.
+f will be converted to the path and filename
of the highlighted file.
example:
ZIPMGR +f becomes ZIPMGR D:\NEWUP\ALLFILES.ZIP
A colon will cause SF-FAM to change to the
download drive and path of the current file
area. The program will most likely need to be
in your path.

Rename File
Enter the filename you wish to change the
highlighted file to. Both the sffiles.bbs
and the file on disk will be renamed.

File Area Editor
This area edits the SFFAREA.DAT.
For details see the section entitled
"Configuring File Area Records"
in your Spitfire Manual.
BBS directory:
Changes the directory to the SFFAREA.DAT.
If changes have been made, you will be
asked if you want to save them.
To exit, press ESC. If any changes have
been made, you will be asked if you want
to save them.

Colors
The possible background and foreground colors
are shown on the top half of the screen.
The toggles are shown in the bottom half.
To change a colors, simply press the
corresponding letter, and it will toggle
through all available colors.
Input Fields: Any window that you need to
type in something.
Stats Field: The field at the top showing
number of files, etc.
SFFILES-Normal: The filename and description,
when it is not highlighted.
SFFILES-Hilite: The filename and description,
when it is highlighted.

Error windows: Any window which displays some
type of error.
Status windows: Any window which is just there
to let you know the program hasn't stopped.
Help windows: The online help.
General hilite: The color used to highlight
items, such as the A,B,C, in the editor.

This displays the complete file description.
10 lines are shown at a time. PgUp, PgDn,
Up Arrow, and Down Arrow may be used to move
through the description. Any other key quits.
